The furniture list, room by room
Majlis
The majlis receives your guests, so plan seats for your largest gathering: a long corner sofa from 6 m, or an 11-seat set, with a few poufs for extra guests. Add coffee tables down the centre and a side table between every two seats for tea and coffee. See majlis sofas and ottomans and poufs.
Living room
For everyday family time, a 7-seat sofa set or a corner sofa facing the TV, a coffee table about two-thirds the length of the sofa, and a side table at one or both ends.
Bedroom
A complete bedroom set gives you eight matching pieces in one finish. Our guide to bedroom sets for newlyweds covers sizes, finishes and timing.
Dining room
A dining set with six chairs suits most homes; allow about 60 cm of table edge per person and 90 cm behind each chair.
