Pouf and Ottoman Shapes, Sizes and Ideas

A pouf, or ottoman, is an upholstered seat with no back or arms; see ottomans and poufs with their prices on one page. Use one as an extra seat, a footrest or a bench at the end of the bed. It comes round, square, rectangular or long: round and square poufs 40–45 cm high work as seats and footrests, and a long one of 100–120 cm works as a bench. KLIK Decor makes 18 designs, from a 40 cm round pouf to a 120 cm bench, made to order in the fabric you choose, from SAR 431 before offers.

Ideas: where a pouf works best

  • In front of a corner sofa: a broad round ottoman instead of, or next to, a coffee table gives a footrest to every seat.
  • In a majlis: two ottomans on the open side add seats for a large gathering and move back against the wall afterwards.
  • Beside an armchair: a small round ottoman as a footrest turns the chair into a reading seat.
  • At the end of the bed: a long ottoman or bench gives a place to sit while dressing.
  • At a dressing table: a stool of about 45 cm suits most dressing tables.

Check how it fits

  • Mark the ottoman's footprint beside the sofa and where you will keep it when not in use.
  • Leave the normal walking route clear, at least 60 cm.
  • If you will move it often, ask about its weight and how to carry it.

Matching or contrasting fabric

Our ottomans are made to order in the fabric you choose. Repeat the sofa fabric for a calm, coordinated look, or pick a contrasting texture or colour after comparing samples, a velvet ottoman beside a woven sofa, for example. Read the care instructions of the chosen fabric; our sofa fabric guide compares them.

Using an ottoman as a table

A broad, firm ottoman can hold a tray, but it is not a hard table: put hot drinks on a rigid tray, never directly on the fabric, and use an ottoman as a table only if its construction is stable for it.

Ottomans and stools for the bedroom

For the bedroom we also make stools and benches in the bedroom-furniture finishes: 14 stools from SAR 350 and 15 benches from SAR 500. Read bedroom seating for sizes.

How many ottomans for a majlis or living room?

Two ottomans on the open side of a majlis add two seats for a gathering and leave the room clear the rest of the time; a pair in front of a corner sofa gives two people a footrest. In a living room, one large ottoman in front of the sofa or one small one beside each armchair is usually enough. More than that and the floor starts to look crowded.

Ottomans in a child's room

Choose a low, stable ottoman suited to the child's age, keep the cover intact and follow the product's instructions. An ottoman is not a substitute for supervision, and no pouf or ottoman is a safe sleeping surface for a baby.

Care

  • Vacuum the top and the seams with an upholstery brush.
  • Blot spills at once and use only a cleaner the fabric label allows, tested on a hidden area.
  • Turn a round ottoman now and then, so it wears and fades evenly.

Questions about ottomans and poufs

What height should an ottoman be?
About the height of your sofa seat or 2–5 cm lower for a footrest; about 45 cm with a firm top for an extra seat.

Can I order an ottoman in the same fabric as my sofa?
Yes. Our ottomans are made to order in the fabric you choose, so they can match the sofa or contrast with it.

Is a pouf the same as an ottoman?
Yes. Both words name the same piece: an upholstered seat with no back or arms. A long one is often called an ottoman bench.

Is an ottoman the same as a beanbag?
No. Our ottomans are upholstered pieces on a firm base; a loose-fill beanbag is a different product.

Can an ottoman replace a coffee table?
A broad, firm ottoman can, with a rigid tray for drinks on top; keep a side table nearby for hot cups.
