Comfort: how you actually sit
- Lounging and TV: a corner sofa with a chaise gives one long, deep seat; most of ours are 90–95 cm deep.
- Upright conversation and guests: a set with armchairs lets each guest have a clear seat and arm.
- Older family members: armchairs with firm arms are easier to stand up from than the corner seat.

In a small living room
A compact corner sofa of about 240 × 165 cm seats four and leaves the centre open; a two-seat sofa with two armchairs seats the same number but needs more floor in front of it.
